3 Things Coders Never Say
In order to turn your idea for a plugin into reality, you might consider never doing these three things:
1. We Never Say “I Can’t”
Unless it’s truly impossible, we never say, “I can’t.” Instead we say, “I’ll try.” While Yoda might disagree, you really can try something and quit later if it’s not working out.
There have been several features that I’ve tried to implement into my plugin, but have had to give up on or put on hold because of limitations I have no control over (making my plugin work for the Hindi language has been one such thorn in my flesh). But unless you jump in and try, you’ll never know if it could have worked out.
Of course, many people give up too early, before putting in the hours to see if a project is really possible. With that in mind…
2. We Never Say, “I Give Up”
If you have a viable idea, don’t give up on it. You might need to reevaluate, change course, or even start over, but don’t give up.
3. We Never Say, “It’s Done”
If you’re really passionate about your project, it’s never done. It gets better and better. You fix bugs, you add features, you make it easier to use and more efficient. But you never finish it.
At least that’s my experience.
