Jesus was a carpenter. Paul was a tentmaker. I’m Chris, and I’m a web designer.
Just as Jesus built houses and Paul made tents, I make websites. But also like Jesus and Paul, this is not my primary vocation in life. I’ve been serving a local church as their pastor since 2009. This is my calling.
Yet I also have a passion for designing websites. For awhile I struggled with this. Should I forsake my zeal for web development so that I could be singularly focused on ministry? For the first year as a pastor, I did exactly that. With the exception of redesigning my own church’s website, I didn’t devote any time to web design.
But it seems to me that God has opened up doors in this field lately that I just can’t ignore. And like Paul, I hope to eventually preach the gospel without charge so that the tithes and offerings of my church might more effectively be used to reach the people in our community and around the world with the gospel of Christ.
