Website: Grace Baptist Church

One example of a website I set up using a template was for the church that I pastor: Grace Baptist Church. When I was called as their pastor, the church had a basic website set up, so they were on the right track in terms of having a web presence. Every church needs a website nowadays.

But the website didn’t adequately represent the church. The church member who maintained the site did a great job keeping the site up to date, but the layout options and functionality offered by the web host was simply too limiting.

So within 6 months of coming to the church, I moved the website to the server where I host my websites, and I redesigned the website. I based the design on a free template I found called “earthlingtwo.” I customized it to include all of the features needed for a church website: sermon audio, recent news & announcements, a calendar of upcoming events, a map to the church, etc.

The best part is that since the new church website uses WordPress as its CMS, it’s easy to update. This means that the church member who made updates to the old site can still post the same updates to the new site without much of a learning curve.

I’m so blessed to be part of a church where the people serve where they are gifted and able, and where the pastor doesn’t do all the work (although I did have a lot of fun creating the website!).
